G & C Softwoods was founded in 1981 by Bob Rothwell, Mike Neish and John Hawkins, all experienced in timber management with a long-established local companies. Our first site (seen to the left), at Fordham just outside Colchester, gave us the opportunity to establish a reputation for quality products, reliable service and attention to detail. From the start,
our emphasis was on understanding
the needs of all our customers.
With this understanding we developed
our products and services over
the following years, increasing
our customer base and reputation. Our efforts were rewarded as our reputation grew.We gained a number of awards from customers, suppliers and trade organisations. Within seven years of trading, it was becoming clear that we were outgrowing our first site, both in capacity and in facilities.. the search began for a new site from which to develop new products and services using the latest equipment and techniques. |
